Dear Friend:
National Bullying Prevention Awareness Week is Oct. 22 - 28, 2006.
As the enclosed news release explains, bullying is a serious national problem that results in school absenteeism, mental and physical health problems, poor school performance, and poor self-esteem. It also can lead to school violence. Children with disabilities can be especially vulnerable to bullying.
As someone who is involved with children with disabilities, you are in a unique position to make a difference by promoting National Bullying Prevention Awareness Week. We encourage you to:
- Promote awareness of www.PacerKidsAgainstBullying.org, a bullying prevention Web site for elementary-age children, including those with disabilities
- Go to www.pacer.org/bullying/media.htm to download and share free articles for children and adults on bullying prevention
- List PACER Center, www.pacer.org, as a bullying resource on your site
Thank you for helping to put an end to childhood bullying.
National Bullying Prevention Awareness Week is sponsored by PACER Center's National Center for Bullying Prevention and cosponsored by the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education, National Education Association, and the National PTA.
Sincerely,
| Paula Goldberg PACER Executive Director |
Julie Hertzog Bullying Prevention Coordinator |
PACER's National Center for Bullying Prevention promotes bullying awareness, teaches effective ways to respond to bullying, and prevents bullying of all children, especially those with disabilities.
