Bullying is not cool.

Mean Girl

MOLLY is sitting alone, by a window in the middle of the bus, her backpack on the aisle seat next to her. CHANDRA is in the seat across the aisle, reading.

Shannon knocks Molly's books over. SHANNON: (walks onto the bus, talking on her cell phone, and comes up to the row where MOLLY is sitting.) Oh, like, just a minute BITSY, there's some garbage in my way. (She accidentally on purpose bumps MOLLY'S backpack to the floor and keeps on walking by to the seat behind MOLLY. Something inside the pack oozes/spills out.)

MOLLY: (getting teary, voice quavery) That's...that's my juice for lunch! And now it's all over my homework!

Shannon talking on her phone. SHANNON: (talking to Bitsy again, acting like MOLLY is invisible) So, like I was saying, everyone who matters will be at my sleepover Saturday. And anyone who isn't there is like, you know, a loser 4-ever. Right. No crybabies. No brace-faces. Just the cool girls.

MOLLY looks to CHANDRA for help.

CHANDRA: Hey, Molly! You were awesome in the spelling bee yesterday! I always forget if the "I" or the "E" comes first in "friend.'"

Molly talking to Chandra. MOLLY: Thanks, Chandra. It's not so hard if you make up ways to remember. Like for friend, I just remember that "a friend is a friend to the end." And "friend" ends with "end"!

CHANDRA: That's cool! Maybe you could come over after school and study with me today.

MOLLY: Sure! I'd love...

Shannon talking on the phone. SHANNON: (interrupting, in a loud, mock whisper, still on the phone) Uh, oh. Looks like the Losers Club is planning a meeting. Brace Face and that girl with weird brother are like getting together.

Chandra and Molly asking what to do. CHANDRA and MOLLY: She's so mean! What do you think we should do?

  1. Ignore her
  2. Throw her backpack on the floor
  3. Yell at her and call her names

Option A: Ignore her is the correct answer.

Chandra and Molly walking off the buss. CHANDRA: (patting the seat next to her, inviting Molly to move over, which she does) When we're done with homework this afternoon, I can show you my new I-Pod!

MOLLY: Yeah! That would be fun!

Shannon alone on the bus talking on her phone. SHANNON: Can you believe it, Bitsy? They're like totally ignoring me. (Makes an exasperated noise) I have to go....
