Designer Labels
Shannon was very, very sleepy. As she crawled into bed, she thought about things she did that day.
"Let's see...I bought some cool new shoes. I had lunch with my cool friends. Oh, and I told that stupid Chandra what a nerd she is. And I called Mickey a dummy...."
Shannon smiled, pleased with her day. Soon she was asleep, dreaming she was at the mall.
As she looked in a store window, she suddenly felt like someone was hitting her. She felt it again! And again! But how could it be? No one was there.
Shannon saw her reflection in the store window. She gasped. Ugly stickers had been slapped all over her. They said cruel things like "nerd" and "stupid" and "dummy".
Shannon started to cry. She felt sad and alone. It hurt to be stuck with a mean name! And it was unfair!
When her alarm rang, Shannon looked quickly to see if there were any mean labels on her pajamas. "Wow," she said. "What do you think THAT dream meant?"
